Definition:

Definition: Ecotoxicity refers to the potential impact on an ecosystem from the release of toxic substances.

Freshwater aquatic ecotoxicity refers to the impacts of toxic substances on freshwater ecosystems, such as lakes and rivers.

Marine aquatic ecotoxicity refers to the impacts of toxic substances on marine ecosystems, such as seashores, open ocean, and estuaries.

Terrestrial ecotoxicity refers to impacts of toxic substances on terrestrial ecosystems, such as forests and wetlands.
