Clinker

Definition:

The end product of a portland cement kiln.

The intense heat of the kiln chemically changes the fine, powdery raw materials to hard, marble-sized nodules typically of diameter 3-25 mm. These nodules are quickly air-cooled and then conveyed to the finish mills, where they are finely ground with additives to make various cement products.
